e’ve all heard the expression, “First impressions count!” and those words could not be more meaningful then when it comes to selling a home.  Preparing a home for sale so that is shows well, a process called “staging,” is a crucial step in the home selling process for several reasons:

  1. When a home is presented in a way that allows buyers to imagine themselves living there, the house usually commands a better price and is on the market for a shorter period of time.

  2. "A picture speaks a thousand words."  Given that nearly 97% of buyers use the internet to find homes of interest, photos of the home can make the difference between someone scheduling an appointment to see the home or clicking past it to view the next home online.  The more appealing that rooms look in photos, the better the chance that someone will want to see the home in person.

The Hannon Group believes strongly in the positive effect that proper staging has on the sale of a home and while some homeowners may spend thousands of dollars on professional stagers to transform their homes, we offer professional staging services free of charge when you sell with us.

Jeri Hannon is an interior designer who oversees all of the staging projects when a home is listed by the Hannon Group.  Jeri studied Architecture and Interior Design at the Maryland Institute and Center for the Arts, was a designer for Ethan Allen, and has been a consultant on various individual design projects ranging from room design to complete house renovations, so she brings great insight to the staging process.

How will the Hannon Group transform your home?  We'll recommend de-cluttering and limiting personal items which can hinder a buyer's ability to picture his/her own belongings in the home.  Additionally, we’ll address furniture arrangement so that a feeling of spaciousness is created as well as placement of decorative items so that they show off the home’s best features.  Sometimes, we’ll recommend low-cost upgrades that will bring a big return on your investment such as adding a fresh coat of paint, re-carpeting a room, or re-glazing a bathtub.  We have a number of vendors to recommend who have done exceptional work for our clients and offer very reasonable prices.

How well do we transform your home?  Most of our clients are amazed and say they almost don't recognize their home, or that they don’t know if they really want to move now that the home looks so good.
